For this week's #SeiyuuSaturday we'll be looking at the ever-talented Nao Touyama (b. 1992), who began voice acting in 2010.
We're starting our look at Naobou in 2013 with one of her more popular characters, Karen from #kiniromosaic. The half-Brit with an ever-present smile, Karen may not have the best grasp on Japanese, but she'll know how to worm into your heart and become the best friend you could possibly have. Even at an early stage in her career, Touyama gives a defining performance, always giving enough manic energy to always have Karen steal the show without making it overbearing and knowing when to turn it down to let the girl's anxieties come out.
Jumping a few years to 2018, we have another defining role for Touyama in another CGDCT series as Rin in #YuruCamp. The expert camper who enjoys her solo time, Rin quickly finds herself caught up in Nadeshiko's whirlwind energy and slowly finds a balance with others. Often playing her voice stoic and straight, Touyama still gets many times to show off a dorky, flustrated, or caring side to our lovely Shimarin.
Continuing the CGDCT train, 2020 gave Touyama the role of Mikage in the space and earth focused #koisuruasteroid. With a clear strength and an uncertain focus on her future, Touyama's performance of Mikage was the perfect balance of tough, lost, and resolute to find what she wanted in life.
Finally for this week, we're jumping onto the fantasy car with 2021's #IsekaiShokudou 2. While Touyama voiced a siren in the show's first season, she got a major role of her own in the second season as the demon catgirl Hilda, whose bounty hunting is supplemented by the delicious cheesecakes at Nekoya. Touyama's performance is a badass smooth that makes me wish she got to voice characters in more action-orientated anime.
