Inspired by @loren I'm putting on a quilt competition.

Rules are:
1. Make a quilt.
2. Show me a picture of said quilt.
3. Congrats! You just won.
4. Deadline: none. Let art live.

And don't forget the alt text so I can boost!

@artcollisions @loren I hope this competition stays open for a few years...
@artcollisions I’m totally going to win, here’s the first quilt I ever made. I designed the appliqué and I will NEVER hand-quilt something this size again but the quilt itself is still in use.
@artcollisions @loren Hope this reaches back into the past, because here's one I made earlier ... about 35 years earlier. Not actually a 'quilt', as it's not wadded, just backed & tied.
@Knitronomicon @artcollisions @loren 🏆 what a unique layout for your hexies! And that it’s lasted so long is a testament to how well it was made, batting or not
@inarticulatequilter @artcollisions @loren Thank you! All hand stitched apart from the backing (sheeting fabric), which I did attach by machine. Some patches, in older fabrics or in places that get more wear, where it drapes over the end of the bed, have started to wear through, but I've got fairly adept at taking out the hand-stitched edge section where I turned it inside-out, reaching in to the worn patches, & replacing them with, if not the exact colour used originally, something similar.
@Knitronomicon that’s clever. I have some early, early t-shirt quilts that have worn through, but I never thought about trying to replace instead of patching. I might need to look into that as an option. Do appreciate a well-loved quilt though, no matter how it’s repaired
@artcollisions this was every bit of cotton remnant that was too small to become a face mask - my only excursion in quilting so far! #quilt #quilting
@popchicken @artcollisions 🏆 that’s gorgeous and fabulous use of scraps. I appreciate having available N95s but sometimes I miss a beautiful cloth mask 😷
@inarticulatequilter @artcollisions I still find one from time to time in a coat pocket, I made huge batches of them at the time, how strange to think that was only a couple of years ago

@artcollisions @popchicken

Wow!
I am in love with that idea for the back.

@artcollisions @loren this is only quilted on the borders, the pattern is called Grandmother’s Garden if I remember right and it’s all hand pieced - it took a very long time to make.
@suehewit @artcollisions @loren 🏆 it’s a lovely GG, especially like the green that pulls all the sections together — kitty seems to think it was worth all the time you put into it 😉
@artcollisions @loren love this quilt competition where everyone is a winner 🏆 I still can’t get out to shows so I really appreciate a place where I can see a whole bunch of beautiful quilt art at once
@artcollisions @loren here’s a favorite quilt of mine from years back. It was designed to commemorate a game where my youngest nephew at the time took on all three of his older siblings, my husband and me at once — and he still won! I named it Putting the Bad in Badminton 😂
@artcollisions @loren
A mock-crazy quilt from a couple of years ago
@BunRab @artcollisions @loren 🏆 such a fun quilt! It’s like a drone shot of a landscape but fabric
@artcollisions @loren I'm not a quilter but I'm totally here for this! I need to pick up my knitting when it cools down outside...
@artcollisions @loren @gannet Oh man, my “never won anything” streak is broken for real! Here is a quilt I made 😁 This was for by my niece’s dollhouse that I made for her first birthday. 1:12 scale.

@artcollisions @loren

How did I miss this thread?!
Here is a quilt (my 3rd ever) that is my idea of a winter sunset over the Pacific Ocean, viewed from San Francisco where I live.

@artcollisions @loren Ooh, I’ll enter. I just printed off a whole heap of templates for Farmers Wife 1920s and 1930s quilts. Had to do it at the library as all the templates were on a CD and I don’t have CD drive anymore. The librarians want to see the finished quilt - I hope they're patient. #quilting
@artcollisions @loren Here are my last 3 quilts for your consideration.
