@anubis2814 @SethRudy Yes, but clearly not enough of us are. The gun lobby is powerful, organized, and well funded. Mass shootings have become normalized. Polls show a majority of Americans favor some form of gun control. So if more of us would tell our elected representatives -- through communication and the ballot box -- to represent us then we can bring about change.

@Beeks I don't know how safe or unsafe the training is--reports suggest that live shooter training definitively saved lives at the Covenant school in Nashville. It's the apparent necessity of it to which I principally object.
@SethRudy insanity. Live rounds aren't significantly louder than blanks, and certainly in no way necessary to teach a civilian to react appropriately to the sound. Fml I hope no one gets hurt.

@SethRudy Well, I for one don't think children should have to go to school in a prison to feel safe. It's also ironic how the states with the fewest gun control laws are the states that spend the least on treating the mentally ill, which is their go to argument to defend the irresponsible possession of firearms. It wasn't too long ago that Senator John Cornyn said mass shootings are unsolvable and are something we have to live with. Politicians and lobbyists who think the founding fathers thought 18 year-olds have a constitutional right to purchase assault weapons have lost all credibility and shouldn't be listened to. Responsible gun owners should shove them asside and bring some reason back to the table. I don't have the solution, but seems like we need a system that isn't so beholden to the vocal minority.
