This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Ferrodraco.

Discovered in April 2017 by a farmer spraying herbicide near Belmont Station, Queensland Australia. It was excavated soon there after by a team led by Adele H. Pentland.

It was named, Ferrodraco, meaning Iron (ferro) Dragon (draco), by Adele, et al in 2019. This is because it was found in ironstone.

It was later CT scanned in high resolution at the Australian Synchrotron and osteology described in detail.

@TheDinosaurDave
I originally learned about Ferrodraco through the podcast palaeocast, where Dr Liz Martin-Silverstone interviewed lead author Dr Adele Pentland

@llewelly nice, I'll check ot out. I learned about it from one of her relatives who was at a Lego store in Brisbane, where I was setting up a Lego display of Aussie Animals (you can see Ferrodraco in red). We were talking about extinct aussie critters, and I mentioned i designed a Lego Ferrodraco and showed her. She then sent photos out to Adele, and i sent her the instructions. Small world, haha
