survey says people in #Portland would rather sit on #transit & read than be #drivers. #pdxBikes and #eBikes seem popular, must be time to paint "bus and turn only" on the outside lanes of our #stroads and let's get out of #pdxTraffic + do a solid #ClimateAction, plus besides: #CarsRuinCities #GeometryHatesCars, the future of #transportation is kids biking themselves to school or joining a #BikeBus, make #SchoolStreets, #BusLanes, & #EdgeLaneRoads / #AdvisoryBikeLanes, out of existing car lanes

@enobacon Though this shouldn’t be rocket science (I’m on a bus posting to Mastodon while the driver fights construction traffic), people, specifically commuters, really make it out to be. Thousands of cars and one 1/2 full bus down an arterial road in my area; really shows heavy resistance to better systems.

@shanie most people wish #transit ran fast and frequently enough to make them want to ride it, but aren't going to walk 4 miles in a ditch and cross a stroad to catch a 30-60 min bus that gets stuck in traffic. The key to unlocking suburban transit is a fully connected low stress #BikewayNetwork and secure parking + bikeshare availability at every station. Creates 4x radius = 16x as much area with access to transit vs walking, besides unclogging streets by removing school-run/ grocery cars etc
