GALUNGAN 2023
The celebrations began, Galungan has started. Locals spend all days praying at the different temples in their neighbourhood. Beautiful little baskets filled with flowers, snacks and incense are being offered. Even when devote praying is taking place inside a beautiful, peaceful temple right outside little motorcycle food stalls attract the colorful, hungry crowds in need of breakfast or lunch like bakso noodles served with a lot of sauce,

hot steaming soup or lontong (Indonesian rice cakes).
Magic is in the air, the mood is light and open-hearted, people are smiling at each other. It’s such a beautiful tradition, everything about it, the offerings, the people’s traditional dress, the temples, the decorations, the ornaments. It’s so busting with life and colours.

The following ten days are for coming together as families and friends. They sit together, they eat, they celebrate, they sing and dance. It’s wonderful the way they live here.
