Hello @PauliJllo,
I recommend that you follow these hashtags, you will see the people who post on these hashtags, then follow them
You don't have to follow people on here. Searching hashtags is a good way to find things you're interested in and if you come across people who you want to follow, fine.
Even better, on here you can follow hashtags.
From there you can work out who to follow.
I don't mean to interrupt this conversation, but I'm curious: Why do you state this? I search hashtags regularly, and I get posts from a variety of servers.
(Edited to correct bad autocorrect.)
@PauliJllo Start with following the hashtags!
Welcome
Congrats! 👏
There are lots of different ways of discovering accounts on here, there's a complete list of methods at https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-find-accounts-to-follow-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-how-do-i-find-my-friends/
Welcome! As people have mentioned, you should follow hashtags. But I'd strongly suggest that if you spot a well written post go ahead and follow that account. You can curate later. Know that there's no algorithm. Everything is done by timeline. Find something good? Then boost it & help it get discovered. Participate when you can, and #welcome.
@PauliJllo Adding the hashtag "introduction" to your post might make it easier for others to find you. Also on this page you might find interesting people by discipline and groups and servers that help to find others:

Lastly, the heavy use of hashtags is helpful, because it is one of the main tools for finding interesting things. (You may also want to subscribe to some hashtags that are interesting for you.)
Climate:
@ZLabe
@RenewEconomyRSSFeed (energy news from Australia bot)
@Mary_Debrett
@woldsnews
@SkepticalScience
@EDOLawyers
@timinclimate
@fiacrerougieux
@evcricket
@mrchrisadams
@thejuicemedia
@arianewilkinson
@greenpeace
@Sustainable2050
Not sure if all these are their current addresses, people move around. But no harm to follow anyway.
Also click in and see who peoples friends are. Often the best way to find like minded people.
@PauliJllo Here's a post with a list:
Global warming peaks; follow #climate experts: @rahmstorf@fediscience.org — Head of earth system analysis, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research @voooos@sciencemastodon.com — Earth, climate, and planetary science reporter, Science Magazine @gwagner@fediscience.org — Climate economist, Columbia Business School @Brad_Rosenheim@climatejustice.rocks — Isotope geochemist & climate scientist @Ruth_Mottram@fediscience.org — Climate scientist at DMI @indianaclimate@fediscience.org — Professor in the Department of Geography at Indiana University #FollowFriday #ClimateCrisis #ClimateChange
Welcome!
I'd recommend following the hashtag ClimateDiary
pvonhellermannn@mastodon.green
Ruth_Mottram@fediscience.org
Are interesting people to follow I think.
(I've removed the # in front of the hashtag and the @ in front of the usernames to not polute the timeline and to refrain from tagging people in the conversation, so these need to be added back)
@PauliJllo
Well, looks like your message has been boosted 148 times at the moment. That's about a hundred more times than my most boosted message. 😆
I don't think you'll have a problem finding people, I think everyone's finding you first.
And, welcome to Mastodon and the federverse.
@PauliJllo Also check out the Fedi Directory from @FediFollows , maybe even this page specifically? https://fedi.directory/tag/environment-and-green-issues/
Good luck! Everything else I'd say has already been said by others here :)
@scavello @PauliJllo Thanks for sharing! I hope you (and Pauli) find something you like :)
