In the French town of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, the mayor ordered to repaint the withered lawn green
@stux Not unusual in Los Angeles. However people often add a small sign explaining their dead lawn is painted green so their neighbors know they're not wasting water.

@stux I'll just add that many government entities in the western US have programs in place to encourage you to remove lawns and replace them with climate-appropriate plants.

Here's the very generous program for Los Angeles.

@stux I know this is a thing, but it's so gosh dang weird to me!
@stux
I read years ago that that's a common practice in some parts of the US.
Seems weird at first but might actually be more eco-friendly than pouring tons of (drinking) water over it.
@stux There are seeding trucks that spray a combination of seed, fertilizer, and green coloring all at the same time. Florida department of transportation does that all the time to new and old road easements
@stux Normalize not having a lawn
@jonathan @stux I'm surprised by how "lawn-y" Swedish yards tend to be up here.
@stux They could add more drought tolerant plants but "Painted Lawn" signs get people thinking about #WaterConservation.

@stux

I'm sure the chemical industry loves this

@stux
Paint is the solution for climate change. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@stux how healthy is this for the grass and the ground in general? What kind of paint is used?

I know I'm weird, but I'd rather just see the brown grass, which is what just happens in dry conditions, then to see something like this.
