I'd never used Apple's parental controls until a year ago. It has been, no exaggeration, probably the worst app experience I've ever had.

Steve Jobs would've Mobile Me'd the entire team a long time ago.

WSJ News Exclusive | Apple Admits to Bug in Screen Time Parental Controls

Settings aren’t sticking; the company says it’s working ‘to improve the situation’

@jdasher Oh I 1,000,000,000% agree with you. We denabled it and it fargled all kinds of stuff up. Took years to unravel. I'd also like to add the Focus feature to your Steve Jobs list of deplorable features.
@chrisbensen gosh, yes. Focus seems like a "kitchen sink included" feature. A good idea, in the abstract, but missing the seamlessness and simplicity you'd expect from an Apple product.
@jdasher Pro tip from Apple engineer: just have two focus modes. One for do not disturb and one for normal. Update your favorites with the people that can contact you and add your favorites to normal. Schedule do not disturb for when you sleep and normal for when you do not sleep. Turn off focus status. Tweak as desired 😃
@chrisbensen I get why we have 5+ Focus modes, accommodating the Watch’s sleep mode, and driving, but yeah, it would be better with fewer modes, and with easier configurations.
@jdasher I forgot about driving. I iust tried to add it back but shared focus modes is also odd. Finally got it, tip is it doesnt show up on iPad. I could care leas about using tech to help me sleep but that's just me. And the watch, we've talked about this before, I 50% love and 50% hate the Apple watch. But I have decided to go with a mechanical watch for a few reasons and try a Garmin for workouts specifically swimming. I can't stand the Apple Watch for swimming.

@chrisbensen Yep, we have; there’s a Garmin and a Watchy on my future.

And I get it: it’s complicated. But the iPad not having Driving Focus is another example of how it feels like they can’t figure out whether they want to ship devices, or an ecosystem.

@jdasher Watchy is great for hacking and nerd events but I just can’t depend on the clock to be super accurate for long and lack of water proof tough. I have a few more than I need, if you pay shipping I’ll tape one up in a small box and drop it in the mail. Send me a PM on Twitter or LinkedIn.

@chrisbensen 🤩

Still gonna get a couple kits for me and one of my “Human Resources” to assemble, but I’ll message you!

@jdasher Full disclosure mine are 1.0 and I think there has been a 1.1 and 1.2 since. Changes are minor but I didnt work on those.
