@SpaceLifeForm @knova @w6ah @ingalls More relevant is FRS -> ham (no license required there) and FRS is more accessible. There was an effort for awhile to set this up, but the guy who was running this unfortunately passed away during the pandemic.

in 24+ years of being a ham, I've never talked to anyone or heard anyone via wilderness protocol. I think my wilderness is a bit too wilderness.

though my wife and I did use a similar schedule when I'd be in the backcountry back in the day before satellite messaging
