Twig@kauko covid tests have had diminishing value for a while now. If you feel sick, a covid test isn't going to make any difference to the outcome.
If it's positive, you isolate.
If it's negative, you isolate.
The only persistent reason I can see to have them anymore is to test before doing something where you might spread it if positive. But even then, the severity is low these days and there are tons of other things you can spread that we don't even have tests for.
@twigmouse Yeah :/ I mean I don't test unless I'm concerned I was exposed, mostly. I haven't done post-travel testing and whatnot
@kauko I guess the question is what you do based on the result of the test. If it's just a desire to know, then the test itself isn't providing any public health benefit, so it makes sense that they would no longer be provided.
Niko@twigmouse @kauko in positive news, deaths haven’t been this low since week 1 of the pandemic. Hoping that continues though we juuust saw an uptick in hospitalizations. It’s small but hoping against hope death’s don’t follow. So far they haven’t but there’s probably a lag there. Still, hopefully it means it’s becoming less deadly and mutating into something less horrific. Really hope so anyway. Still sucks.
