First I thought about using new hashtags on my tumblr. Then I realised that I feel a strong disconnect to the people who “do graphic design”, or at least claim to, so I think I need to spend a bit of time on understanding what it is I actually do, what it is called, and what that means.

I think that now I have plenty of reason to go through my stack of books I have prepared for exactly this.

I am also glad that I have linked to my ebooks from inside my #zotero library.

After that, I might be able to understand better what it is I want to do, and what it is I am doing. I will start with Stankowski, because it is the one book you need to read (and I have not done so yet).

It is a bit on the heavy side, so carrying it to my favorite café spot will be weird. Backpack? #buildinpublic

My immediate goal is to attract others who are like me and find it interesting to get to the absolute bottom of things, by learning, building, and studying in public.
And since I have a lot of reading material on my plate, I will be here for *years*.

So, teach me everything, Stankowski et alii.

Today’s #studymaterial is: Stankowski, A. (1994) Visuelle Kommunikation: ein Design-Handbuch. 2., erw.überarb. und verb. Aufl. Berlin: Reimer.
ISBN: 978-3-496-01106-4

Working out a workflow for taking pictures, minimal editing and uploading to my instagram.
I notice that I am loathe using apps. Good to know, I still prefer the browser experience.
Seems to work. Now, to study!

From my notes: the problem is not the problem. The problem is the problem obfuscating the problem.

“Why don’t I read this book?” is not the problem. It is the problem hiding the problem of “Why *should* I read this book, what issue or problem does reading it solve for me?”

I don’t believe in procrastination. I instead believe in a fundamental misunderstanding of our own motivations and values. At least, I note such a misunderstanding in myself.

Yeah, I need to hook Instagram into my backup system later, too #ifttt #turnon #tunein #dropout

An amazing book. If you can, read it any way you can. I am just four pages in and it is the most punk thing I have read in *years*.
