@laurenrelarkin tbh a lot of my experience on the #fediverse has already been better than on twitter. There are some things missing for now, but it is very tangible how much of that are good old network effects. You need a critical mass for your feed to be somewhere between "useful" and "interesting", but you also want to steer clear of "addictive".
Unfortunately, #theology people have a lot of inertia about this. But maybe that also will change with #X .
@thomasrenkert well said. I think mostly I miss some friends that won't move here (or be here long enough to build something)--maybe this is the intertia you are speaking of... and, of all the other platforms, this one is by far my favorite in terms of engagement and social exchange.
Also, what is #X?
@laurenrelarkin > Also, what is #x
well, you know, just check #twitter one last time to be in the loop... 🫠
> to build something
yes, the fediverse is what you make of it, not what some algorithm feeds you. It is less convenience and consumerism and more community and collaboration. A change of pace, but I welcome it.
@thomasrenkert i'm the worst when it comes to being anywhere near technologically in the loop...it is just over my head, esp. as I'm neck deep in dissertation...but i'll see what i can find.
And, thank you. I've enjoyed this conversation and the reminder to stay committed. I need to let what was pass and allow for new life to be born... as someone who bore three kids into the world, you'd think I would inherently know this by now... but a las :)
@laurenrelarkin Musk yesterday rebranded twitter to "X". Bird logo gone, blue color gone, the name will change. Rumors are he wants to turn it into a #superapp like #wechat in China, knowing him, probably including a #socialcredit systen, too...

@thomasrenkert oh. damn. i didn't even notice... *goes to check
This seems as you said, a move toward that altright breeding ground.
