I don't know if anybody can help me with this but I started Mastodon on the default Mastodon server is there any way to migrate over to something closer to me like the garden State instant or do I have to create a new account?

I'd like to start off by saying thank you for your quick response I'm not too worried about my posts because I've been in my own little microclimate for the past 24 hours trying to find something a little closer to me relevant to my location.

Your instance was not easy to locate at all, I had to do a lot of Google searching is there any way to spread this server other than boosting?

Upon further research I can download my posts with the app and manually move them over so I won't lose any posts I'm going to attempt to move over to the garden State instance.

@stefan Ah, okay; that's what I thought. I'm sure there are plenty of technical reasons it's complicated, but it'd definitely make the portability of a Fediverse account a lot more appealing. I might actually value it more than keeping my follows/followers.
