@cendawanita because they're not comfortable for that long
@cendawanita it looks like after some time the feet will feel numb. And getting up might look a tad undignified
@YasminGalaxygir
😂 There is that. Are you comfortable or used to sitting cross legged btw? I'm thinking instead of kneeling I'd be loosely in that position instead
@cendawanita hm I can sit cross legged for a while but in this case would require a bigger pillow underneath. Sitting on a slope just feels unstable. If you are searching for ideas to sit maybe try a bench with a pillow on your desk. Or a wide chair? Before you buy new furniture
@YasminGalaxygir
Legit idea - I already have a footstool and pretty much sit like that except my workchair has arms (and it's well-padded) hence my interest. But the stability issue is such a good point: these come in flat packs and I don't have a power drill so it's just been me with my manual grip and the supplied Allen key or screwdriver 😂. And the build isn't necessarily great either. (Time to find a local workshop I guess once I have the budget and commission something of this sort...)
@cendawanita it is an investment at first but good custom build furniture is (in my experience) long lasting and comfortable. I have long legs and many industrial chairs are uncomfortable for me after a while. I have custom build living-room furniture and it's wonderfull. Ordered 2010 and ready for the next 10 years
@YasminGalaxygir
Aight, you've convinced me to save up!!
@cendawanita hhh, I hope you reach your saving-up goal fast!
@cendawanita this is a great idea you should do it! I've tried it for a few minutes and it's pretty comfortable. Your back is gonna do most of the work though.
@sengming
Ooo so the cushion size wasn't too small? Thank you!!
@cendawanita the one I tried felt just right
@cendawanita it will be hell on your knees 😐 also I did a lot of research on this, and you would want more mobility rather than be straitjacketed into one position. That's how joints get a lot of pressure. A chair like a wobble chair could be a better fit.

@liztai
What if I use the bottom platform in a cross legged position?

*Looks up wobble chair also*

@cendawanita @liztai

Even a slightly wobbly stool is enough to keep you changing positions. I bought this because I thought I may need to lean while standing, but that didn't work out. Now I either sit or stand.

@cendawanita ah yes it is called active sitting. I use one from IKEA. It is OK. And I alternate between standing, sitting on that chair and on a normal chair.

@liztai
Hahaha not for me if it's basically a stool design + switching chairs

@liztai @cendawanita I think active sitting is the right approach too. I really like the aeris swopper stool design. It is expensive, but will last decades.

Of course a downside to active furniture is you can expect it to need more maintenance work over time, there's more mechanical stress, another reason to pursue good brands with decent warranties.

I'm curious about what your IKEA stool is? I've used Nilserik sit-stands from there reasonably effectively

@cms @cendawanita yea that's the one I use.
@liztai @cendawanita thanks. I keep that one as a backup. I just retired my Swopper after fifteen years, and I'm now using a Hag Capisco 8106, which I'm in love with, but it's early days. I'll still bounce between it and the IKEA for variety.
