If you're on match.com, please move on

If you're on feeld, hmu.

@Jyoti I'm on neither, so I just occasionally turn up & scroll through the latest... goods. 😎

@ElysiaMacht

They're all tumbleweed for me.

I have a face for radio.

@Jyoti Well, isn't Feeld for casual tumbleweed relations to begin with?

As to the rest, you mean 99% of us don't look like the people in the gif? I am le shocked.

AFAIK you look perfectly normal, so despite you boosting everything people say to you (no idea why), let's do a double use of the gif with some drive-by harmless online flirty flirt at you then. Well hello there. 🤺 You (& presumably the rest of the followers as usual. Hi, world!).

@ElysiaMacht

haha - I boost people whose posts I find lovely (in whatever way) so other people can find them and follow them!

I like to connect people. 🤓

hmm, maybe I've got the wrong idea about Feeld, I thought it was more of a serious site for polys and kinksters. Well, at least more serious than Tinder and Grindr.

As for your gif...

@Jyoti I don't even have/want a smartphone for apps, so my impression is based on when I previously first ran into you mentioning it, looking up what it was + mind noting it under "casual sex hookups". Google now also said something about swinging, aside polyam + whatever kinks, so memory/impression + not personally seeing what's on there.

Meme + cartoon pics for good vibes or "Thought you might like some of these" otherwise?

@ElysiaMacht

Those are some pretty frogs! Thank you!

I might give Bumble a go next.

I did meet some nice people on Ok Cupid years ago. And I went on a date, the first date of my life, at 48.

But OKC has gone to shit now, sadly, it's all bots.

For a while there, though, it was a good place to meet other weirdos.

@Jyoti Was on OKC until heard there was SMTH dodgy about the site or risky about links they emailed. Not logged in 10+ years, so as now tried to get a new passwd sent to me, nothing receivd so maybe the profile got deleted. Fun thing was recognizing a speaker from a con some 11 years earlier on there, connecting there being easier than on Failbooks & such, with some things known straight off.

Everybody always talks apps so I tend to assume nothing is available if I just use the web.

@ElysiaMacht

Oh no, most of the older ones still have web versions. I mean, I always get suckered into going back on OKC but the last time... soo many bots!

But I only go back on when I'm feeling super-confident and happy as there's nothing that knocks your self-esteem like dating sites.

Apparently, there's a Fediverse dating site coming? 😳

@Jyoti So you must be in happier states of late then. Good. 👍

But here, a Nexus Dating service clip. ;) 14 minutes in if it doesn't jump to the right place otherwise.

https://youtu.be/ptGoI1T2JHk?t=841

Not sure if you ever saw the series, but worth a watch if interested in #androids. Just takes the right kind of a 'bot for me to be interested. ;)

Watch up until 17 minutes in. 😂

@ElysiaMacht

I am sad to say, I have never seen this series! It looks right up my cyberdeck so I'm gonna hunt it down now, ta!

And yes, it all depends on the bot.

Who amongst us hasn't dreamt of the gentle caress of R.Daneel?

*sigh*

@Jyoti Oh, an even better drop then. It at least used to be all on YouTube, probably even that same account.

Check the order they were shown in or should be in, I forget if there was much difference. A 1999 noirish scifi series with e.g. David Warner + other big names guesting at times. I think Machine Dreams was the first episode's name.

That one starts off with a "We're on Showtime, we can show this" bit of 'NSFW'-ish-ness, but calms down on such sides after it for the most part.

@ElysiaMacht

I bloody LOVE David Warner.

I was so sad I missed him when he was at Whooverville here, in Derby. Gahhhh.

THANK YOU again for this, I shall check it out and assemble a YT playlist.

It's giving me an Earth 2 vibe. Or perhaps Almost Human?

@Jyoti Yeah, so did I. Saw him twice in a play with Philip Glenister, both being absolute gents at the stage door.

Old pics from then.

This lists some of the guest cast in TR2070.

Almost Human was a sort of a descendent I suppose, but you'll see if you watch. Look forward to hearing your views on it!

It's been said TR2070 has the closest to Daneel Olivaw in its own fashion, so... yeah, agreed on the above as well. 😍

Elysia Macht (@[email protected])

Attached: 4 images Reminiscing at #DavidWarner mention the other day. I saw him twice in A Feast of Snails with #PhilipGlenister as his co-lead, #SorchaCusack & #SiwanMorris making it 4, so all met. As I recall, #StageFright (& film work) had kept him from doing plays for decades before that, so really a privilege to have the opportunity. Even if the play wasn't that much a classic to be. @ElysiaMacht

OH - those are lovely pics! 🥹

I've just got back from this month's EMOM night (https://www.electronicmusicopenmic.com/list-events.php) so I may yet have a bowl of cereal and start the TR binge!

I'll finish this ep of Strange New Worlds and stop crying for a bit, hopefully.

EMOM - Events

Description

@Jyoti Aw, if over Warner, and :/ if other things are making for teariness.

The wrong time for my jukebox mind to bring up the "No tears, please, they're a waste of good suffering" quote. 😬

The caveat with TR2070 is that IMO it's unfortunately the most likely future scenario we've been heading toward the last however many years already. So it's a dystopian world or setting, and if you're a bit down, don't stay up all night watching more than the 2-parter Machine Dreams at least then? 👍 📩

@ElysiaMacht

Don't worry, I won't be liveblogging evey scene :-P

@ElysiaMacht

Just on S1E1 and I see what you mean about the saucy start hahah

I'm looking forward to "for the most part" part now.

@Jyoti It's a hot city. Literally, as you'll see.

🤣 At Mr Cylon. He was in the Nexus episode clip already, briefly, but yes. James Calley. The lead was in some other scifi-ish series, too. Two?

Make a blog post or generic post if you like it, or even if you don't (Warner is in it some halfway through the episodes). I'm always spreading the Good Word of Total Recall (Rly more Blade Runner) 2070, but assume most scifi fans know it already.

@ElysiaMacht

This is SOOO Elijah and Daneel! I LIKE IT!

Also getting Alien Nation vibes which is not a bad thing. The series was pretty damn solid.

I know I shouldn't like buddy-buddy cop shows but I'm a sucker for them. Well, if they're sci-fi, not so much pure contemporary copaganda.

He's HATES robots but guess who is new partner is?

THAT'S RIGHT - A GOBLIN TEASMAID.

@Jyoti Clappy hands of happy from me then. And agreed, as suggested. On both, tho AN not mentioned before. I know the creators were involved with that cop + mountie buddy show as well, forget the name just now. Fraser + woshisname.

Ian Farve is so dorky first off, and I love him to no end any time I'm reminded of him. The actor Karl Pruner was in charge of ACTRA union stuff as well, so always seemed a good sort as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Pruner

Yay tho, new people watching #TR2070. 😊

@ElysiaMacht

What was that '80s show where there was a buddy-buddy cop thing and one was a clanky, huge robot?

It was for kids, I'm pretty sure. And he'd regularly have springs popping out of him.

Or maybe I dreamt it!

@ElysiaMacht

.. or was it '70s??

@Jyoti You're slightly older than me + UK. You'll have to ask people there. I only saw your (ghastly, to kid me) Emu thing, Roland the Rat, DJ Kat + whatsuch from Fun Factory & its ilk on Sky Channel + Super Channel.

80s cartoons for life = I'm Transformers generation, our robots preferably not going sproing. (Outside fanfic, where I'm sure they make all sorts of noises doing things children are not to know about.)

@ElysiaMacht

AIEEEEEEeeeee! I FOUND IT!

I did not dream it. And it *was* the '70s. I would have been 9 or 10 when I saw this haha:

https://youtu.be/8ZG8bucO4sY

Don't worry, Emu scared the shit out of all of us. Ditto Roland The Rat. Now, Gilbert's Fridge, that was beautiful!

Speaking of sproinging, I'm now on Bumble and it's going badly. I'm swiping 'nope' on 80% of women. Which I know is the opposite of what blokes are meant to do.

I should have known Rosa Luxemburg wasn't on there.
😢

Holmes and Yoyo - "The Dental Dynamiter" - CORRECT ASPECT RATIO

YouTube

@Jyoti Metamemory says the name may have been heard sometime, but "Never heard, certainly never seen" otherwise. Watched a minute/the opening credits bit + probably love Yoyo already in any case, bc me/my tastes.

G's fridge not known either. Zig & Zag in the 90s I knew thru SmashHits/TakeThat fandom friends/MTV.

Emailed you something, pardon unrelated to your thirst for the Rosas out there. Good luck?

@ElysiaMacht

Here you go on the #GilbertsFridge:

🙂

One of the high points of my one week of fame was being interviewed by Zig and Zag!! IT WAS AWESOME! They asked me to bring a fave record in so I took in the Peter Howell version of the Doctor Who theme :-P

Thanks for the headsup on the email, good thing you did because it was in my spam folder!

Rescued it and I'm off to read it now, ta!

Gilberts Fridge. Ep 1 Pt 1 of 3

YouTube

@Jyoti Gilbert's looks too scary to even click play on.

Doctorin' the TARDIS was the first contact I had with Who. Saw some Four on Super channel, but then my 9yo little brother complained to our parents it was too scary & _I_ was banned from watching it as well. /Forev. bitter & all that.

How are you on the likes of e.g. Miina & Minna tho?
