It's...deeply flawed, and not nearly ready for production. But, here's an example of what the #Friendica Myspace theme already looks like.

Basically, what I'm doing is just ripping off of Tom's myspace profile from archive.org, and slowly pulling the HTML apart, as I fill in template variables and split things up into widgets.

It's tedious. Things definitely don't work correctly yet. There's weird quirks with how Friendica's data works. But, it's theoretically possible to make something that comes very close to what we used to have.

Hey @hypolite is wall-to-wall posting still a thing in Friendica, or no? I'm trying to make profile comments work, but I can't even get wall-to-wall working in a vanilla Friendica theme.
@deadsuperhero @hypolite it might be easier to use @grishka's Smithereen as a base for this as it is already more designed for Wall type interaction
@liaizon @hypolite @grishka Yeah, a conversation on the Friendica side of things has indicated that wall-to-wall is no longer supported, which...is a huge bummer.
Sorry @@liaizon, but Friendica was designed for wall-to-wall posting in 2010. That functionality existed on day one.  Later projects from that source tree (Hubzilla, Streams, etc.) have improved it and still support it.

Smithereen is a fairly recent player and doesn't actually support wall-to-wall posting. It supports 'remote wall-to-wall' posting. Which is something completely different from actually being able to post on one of your friends' pages, follow people from their own sites with one click, and even upload photos to their albums on their own instance - if they let you.
@mike @hypolite Yeah, unfortunately it looks like Friendica might not be supporting Wall to Wall anymore. But, maybe my next stop is to port it to Hubzilla or Streams.

Biggest thing I've learned today:

The Myspace layout most of us remember was built pretty much exclusively with tables.

Trying to reverse engineer the layout and turn everything into templates has been interesting, because the page source is pretty much tables all the way down. It's so gross.

It's kind of a weird problem, but there's not really much readily available page source or screenshots of what Myspace's old dashboard looked like.

Like, I can kind of remember it, but there's nothing to really compare any work to.

I know SpaceHey exists, but it's really more of a thing where they built the app to resemble how you remembered it, not necessarily how it actually was.

Found some screenshots. It's funny to remember how social media dashboards used to be just plastered with ads. Stuff of nightmares.

It might be really funny to have an option that turns on fake Brands Town ads.
