@daniel_laurison need to crowdsource a snappier title for the lab, fell asleep while reading it
@omarlizardo I'm not a huge fan either but have not come up with anything better yet. Current lab is "Politics & Equal Participation Lab" which works out to PEPL which is nice (pronounced, know, "people") but I need something broader for this as there will be some projects focused on mostly class/inequality & less on politics directly. Not that they're ever fully separate of course.
@daniel_laurison @omarlizardo I think you should come up with a word that sounds cool, put it in all caps, and then apply it to both labs. And if anyone asks what it stands for you can say "It's like SOS, it doesn't actually stand for anything."
@daniel_laurison Swarthmore? not that awful place. Anyhow, sounds like a good opportunity (and it is a beautiful campus -- or was.)
@DeanBaker13 still is though there's a LOT of construction at the moment (they're drilling a ton of holes/wells that will something something carbon zero by 2035).
@daniel_laurison I would focus more on getting the wind/solar capacity in place, along with EVs (including plug-in hybrids). Once you have wind/solar installed, the cost of the electricity is near zero. They can have millions of holes, but it won't be profitable to pull out the oil.
@DeanBaker13 it's geothermal something - I am very very not in charge or really informed at all beyond that but I'm sure no one is pulling out oil.
