KAL’s cartoon

The world this week

The Economist

@timbray #AltText4U: «KAL’s cartoon showing a close up of two trousers.

The one on the left has a button with Twitter’s logo, and the one on the right has a button which reads Threads.

There are lots of people in the pocket of each trouser, and some are jumping from one to the other, even needing help not to fall

The text reads: In a desperate search for a better tomorrow…

Millions of migrants from around the world are taking the daunting leap…

From Elon Musk’s pocket to Mark Zuckerberg’s.»

@timbray Personally I think this is in incredibly poor taste, equating the plight of refugees, many of whom have died trying for a better life, with those trying to find a different social app.
@timbray Dunno about this meme. Living close to the Spanish/Italian coast and seeing real people in need dying by the 100s... And depicted with a boasting scetch... Usually I go, joke about everything. But the comparison here. Dunnow.
@timbray boating, not boasting...
@timbray @williampietri Those are pockets? At first glance I thought they were sinking ships.
@stanley @timbray @williampietri Likewise, I was expecting some sort of Titanic-referencing metaphor.
@seh @stanley @timbray @williampietri it is supposed to evoke boats, the metaphor is refugees
From one megalomaniacal billionaire to another.
