Did you know there is NO EQUITY for #Disabled people in the #UK? If they are in receipt of means-tested benefits, they lose them all INSTANTLY if they cohabit with a partner who earns over the (very low) threshold.

Petition: Allow disabled people to keep all their benefits if they move in with a partner

Under current rules, people on ESA or UC risk losing some or all of our benefits if we find love and move in with a partner. This means that we have to choose either happiness or financial independence. These unfair rules have discouraged me from looking for love at any point in my life.

This means that two adults, one (at least) with additional needs and expenses, are plunged into hardship. Because they love each other and want to live together and the government is cruel.
There is no #RightToLove in the UK.

And as ever in this unjust country, this law will most impact those who are already multiply marginalised. Disabled people who are Black or Brown. Disabled people who are #LGBTQ+ will be worst affected.
They should have the #RightToLove

A #disabled person is no less disabled if they cohabit. No less worthy of dignity and autonomy, but these are taken away from them due to this hideously unjust twist of law. It is punitive and deliberate.

It MUST change.
