Agecroft A Primary Substation was part of a coal powerstation near #Manchester, England. It closed in the early 1990s. Only a few isolated buildings remain, including this one.

I visited January 2020, only days before the control panels were removed. Now the room stands empty, all that remains are photos and memories.

@ObsidianUrbex

I used to be able to see the cooling towers from my bedroom window!
I thought all the building were demolished when they built the prison and industrial units there. Taking out the heavy equipment usually means they're about to clear the site for redevelopment.

I think Cussons had a factory nearby too, and for a long time, even after they closed, there were tall tanks on the site.

@TonyJWells
Oh wow! You are close then 😀

As far as I know there are still some buildings, tucked away in a little cluster. Was gutted to hear that control panels were removed, good job I went when I did. Not sure why they removed them, as I'm unsure the buildings have been redeveloped. Strange!

@ObsidianUrbex

I lived a few miles away when I was a kid. I was on a hill, and could see them in the distance between buildings.

@ObsidianUrbex Old control rooms are the best
@River
I totally agree 😍
@ObsidianUrbex I wish we had digital photography back when I used to scramble into abandoned places, I never shot any of it on film because it needed to be processed and it was evidence we had been trespassing. I guess we did have much less sophisticated security to deal with though. I do get to go into a few interesting places for work though, like this entrance tunnel to an underground hydroelectric power station

@River
Sounds like you see some cool places for your job! I do wonder what the photo labs think when I send my film to be developed. A recent roll of snaps from Poland and Ireland must have seemed like a random assortment. I try to take only one photo per place on a roll, to make a diverse collection 😍

Ilford HP5 Plus (35mm film) Review & Photos

Ilford HP5 Plus is an affordable high speed black and white film. I put it through its paces in some abandoned places in Poland and Ireland.

@ObsidianUrbex Mig graveyard!!! Awesome! There must be some awesome places in Eastern Europe! My brother bought copies of Alone in the Zone 1&2, that was next level stuff!
@River
Oh yes Eastern Europe has some amazing things! I just got back from my second trip around the Baltics, so many interesting lost places 😍
@ObsidianUrbex A few round here, but a lot get demolished pretty quickly and redeveloped, or repurposed. The 4 majors locally, an old fertaliser works, an abandoned hospital, the closed (but extremely toxic) chemical factory, and a condemned earthquake prone tower block, are either in the process of demolition, or have been cleared in the last 12 months. All pretty high risk sites with either chemicals, asbestos or toxic mold
