I’m gonna talk about #Discworld for a minute. I’ve been re-listening to favorites and going through the ones in the series that I never made it to around the first time and I realized something on my now second listen of #HatFullOfSky. #MissLevel (and #GrannyAching and #SirTerryPratchett by extension) taught me to write. What I mean by that is when Miss Level was trying to ascertain whether Tiffany’s Granny Aching had been a witch or not, she asked Tiffany if she’d helped people. 1/

Brief aside, I am not just talking about writing books or articles, etc. I’m talking about messages that we send to and about each other on a daily basis. Texts, emails, and such.

Anyway, so among other things, #TiffanyAching asserted that Granny was always there, even when she wasn’t. That people thought, “What would #GrannyAching do?”
I was crafting a message where I had to correct a coworker in a clinic group chat and explain why they were wrong in order to correct my own record. 2/3

as I often do when there is a need to write tactfully, I asked myself “how would #TerryPratchett write this?” and I wrote a polite, short factual message that made it clear by deduction that their previous assertion was incorrect without referencing them. My team lead came to me to me later and commented how it was entertaining to see how I handled it. Terry Pratchett is always with me in a similar way to Granny Aching and #TheChalk. They’re always up and down the clacks. #GNUTerryPratchett 3/3
