Ars Technica
@arstechnica So anyway, have fun with Threads, I guess.

@garretble @arstechnica

Pretty much this. Its why I won't use Threads either. At the end of the day its a different app owned and managed by the same crappy company that is going to use the same crappy practices.

@KellicTiger @garretble @arstechnica also threads being an extension of instagram means they're probably gonna do the whole "hey we told your mom and your abusive ex about all your accounts. btw." thing eventually, and you can't delete the fucking accounts

@garretble

Yeah, hype everywhere in the media “Why Threads can become the new Twitter”. People just don’t care about their data.

@arstechnica

@maschinentraum @garretble @arstechnica People do. Garbage tech journalists and their drooling fanbase don't.
@arstechnica How does one imprison a company?
@arstechnica Anyway, lets jump on Threads it's totally fine.
@arstechnica Two thoughts:
1. I am glad I use TurboTax. It looks like Intuit avoided this nonsense.
2. When do the "lock Zuck up" chants start? 😆

@arstechnica credit to Senators Elizabeth Warren. Ron Wvden. Richard Blumenthal, Tammy Duckworth, Bernie Sanders, and Sheldon Whitehouse, and
Representative Katie Porter. This has a Warren feeling to it; it's her kind of issue.

Your vote counts. Never forget it.

@arstechnica "Why don't we work with Meta and integrate with #threads?"
@arstechnica Bruh, they gonna be on Meta and Googles' asses for this. Even the Joker knows not to fuck with the IRS.
@arstechnica this should be clear indication of the dire need for an American GDPR.
@arstechnica Typical social media app effect.

@arstechnica If true, the civil liability exposure is astronomical, yes?

And criminal law likely violated as well.

Corps don’t go to jail. Officers of the Corp, or board members might, though. Likely? Sadly, no.

But, at the very least, this looks bankruptingly expensive
