Nice piece by Doctorow. For me, the essential point is that no single for-profit entity is capable of mediating the interests of all of humanity, or even 10% of it. It necessarily puts its interests ahead of all whom it purports to serve.

By associating ourselves (internationally or locally), we could grow platforms like this, holding raffles, offering discounts (whether in our own businesses or those of others who want to collaborate), holding contests, etc. With the power of organized common people, we could take power away from corporations.
