Platformism is the same as conservativism: "in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

@pluralistic "Fire Debt Bankruptcy" sounds very much like the Biblical definition of "Jubilee" year: occurring after every seventh Sabbath year,  all debts were cleared, slaves allowed to return home, and this resulted in a massive social and economic reset. We're seeing that play out in Russia at the moment as power structures change.
@pluralistic Really interesting read! in the paragraph about Threads, there is a link labeled "brand-safe vaporposting", but the link is currently empty and redirecting to nothing.

@pluralistic OK, it does work on my end after a reload. Thanks!

@pluralistic I see a lot of controlled burns here in California. But it is a huge state (3rd largest).

There is also a use of goats to eat grasses and brush.

We are trying to create a "defensible space" around our house but we live in a place with "heritage tree" regulations that prevent us from cutting trees without an inspection and permit from the city forester.

@pluralistic California is a metaphor right, for the GOP?

@pluralistic

No, California needs to clean up debris and proactively create wide swaths of fire breaks to prevent fires from spreading.

🔥

Fires create pollution and harm the world by releasing more CO2 and PM2.5.

PM2.5 particulates harm both humans and wildlife.

@pluralistic Cory you’re a master surfer riding the crest of the tech Zeitgeist wave. This piece simply *nails* what’s going on, what’s going wrong, and what’s needed.

I'd argue the whole platform/monopoly/network effect saga is playing out again, in the EV world. Tesla is doing everything they can to build up and lock in their platform, which happens to primarily (but not exclusively) be on wheels. But rest assured it is a platform. Apple knows this; legacy auto, not so much. Early days.

@pluralistic Truly appreciate your writing and ability to link such pointed examples to the danger present in a modern landscape.
@pluralistic While the content is agreeable, it's quite ironic that this is, of all things, posted on Medium.
