#Finncon social media comparison:

#Twitter: still the most active with maybe 1.5x as many posts as #Mastodon.

#Mastodon: not too bad at all and clearly in second place. A bit more difficult to evaluate as I can only search for the hashtag, not word, and only posts known by my instance (so in reality the difference might be even smaller).

#BlueSky’s only posts mentioning Finncon are by me.

#Threads: don’t know as the whole bloody thing lacks search. Though nothing random popped up.

@Setok At the risk of the usual Mastosplaining impression, at least on the web it's easy to check things on other instances as well.

I happened to have these 2 open, so quick to check against what you saw. The latter, a bigger one, ofc having more. I always end up checking 1-3 different ones for any interest, event or more.

@ElysiaMacht right, I've been kind of begging for this to be an embedded feature, so you could follow or search hashtags from another instance (like breaking stories on journo.host).

@Setok My top feature requests are the ability to control who can reply to a post, per post (even after you've sent it), and full search with that.

(I don't like Cälckey's look or vibe so far, disliking the evangelism about it. And that you can't tell which instances even here have plain text search or don't, info being dismal.)
