‘It was an accident’: the scientists who have turned humid air into renewable power

Tesla speculated electricity from thin air was possible – now the question is whether it will be possible to harness it on the scale needed to power our homes

@Norobiik So wait... there are actually GOOD things about summertime humidity?
@Norobiik
Ufff… I can just imagine my machine sucking up the humidity from my house in Florida… my dream come true and electricity too!
But wait… there’s more!
No
More
Frizzy
Hair!
@Norobiik as a Florida man with more humidity than we know what to do with.. Bring it!
@Norobiik I don't hold much hope in harnessing triboelectricity into something useful. It's been attempted to be done for years and yes it can produce a lot of power but to turn that power into useable energy that you get from outlet is not that easy. If it could be done, it's a large untapped power source.
@nausiyan I'll try to keep track of the developments. But I think it will take a long time before it's refined enough to be useful. Just like nuclear fusion.
