I’m catching up on stuff, and want to extend congratulations to @brianhartgen for winning the Robert s Bray award at #ACB23. brian’s contribution to advancing our access and knowledge has been enormous. This is such a well-deserved acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution.
@JonathanMosen Thanks very much. I was present when you delivered your presentation. I heard it on Zoom and you did so extremely well. Congratulations. On a separate note, I thought the audio on Zoom they had going at NFB was wonderful.
@brianhartgen Thanks. Let’s hope we can continue the conversation and hold these companies to account. The audio was very good. If I’d have one suggestion it would be to have a couple of mics picking up the audience a bit more, because the atmosphere was very loud and electric in the room but I’m not sure the audio fully conveys that.
@JonathanMosen No, it doesn't. You're right. The hall sounded as if it only had a few people in it and I'm quite sure that wasn't the case. But the audio from the presenters was the best I have heard in such a situation.
@brianhartgen @JonathanMosen speaking as someone that was on the floor at that convention, it was electric, and comparing what I was experiencing on the floor, to what was going out on zoom/youtube, was night and day. I've made notes and will be filing reports with the appropriate personelle to hopefully sort things out for 2024. I did note sometimes the spanish interpretation did end up going out on zoom/youtube, I blame someone shoving the wrong faders or pushing wrong buttons. rofl.
@brianhartgen @JonathanMosen I agree and the observations in terms of the sound of the audience were the same across the board. Perhaps more mics would help with that but I'm sure those AV people have plenty going on as it is but I confess I missed that facet myself. Perhaps a better way will be forth coming as I suspect this kind of thing is here to stay and I for one am glad of it over all.
@JonathanMosen @brianhartgen Congrats on winning that Brian. You've done so much throughout your career on advancing other people's access to tech, its well deserved.
