I find it weird how the notion that '#mastodon is too confusing for people to join' persists in the media, even among tech sites. Sure, #threads makes it dead easy if you already have an #instagram profile, but I cannot figure out how the masto sign-up process flummoxes otherwise smart folks so thoroughly. I *am* getting old though, so maybe this is just some 'proto-get off my lawn' attitude starting to sink in.
