You can absolutely hate the technocracy & big capitalist organizations, but also want to talk to your friends & family who don’t care OR DON’T HAVE A CHOICE.

I appreciate the small circles that #mastodon servers can (and will continue to) supply, but some of us live in a different reality & are binded by more practical concerns than strict ideology.
to use an analogy; I’m seeing a lot of “ewww anyone who doesn’t eat organically sustainably are THE WORST…how can people even eat that over-processed JUNK”

whilst millions of people live in food deserts where the 7-11 is your closest grocery store for miles.

Not everyone is privileged enough to have someone with the means & knowledge to spin up their own federated instance y’all…
@Hagure I get your point, but I don't think people really care what individuals choose to do. there's a lot of unrest and it has to manifest somehow (pacts, discourse, etc.) but I can't really see a situation where we're excommunicating each other over who we have blocked or muted.
@shobujames @Hagure I’m speaking more to the pressure put on insurance admins to block while other instances like .Social & potentially fb. Individually do what you want
