I think that #Twitter is heading towards the end now that #Threads has arrived.
Firstly because Musk rage will encourage users to leave as a form of virtue signaling.
However the main contributor will be that Meta doesn't care about profitability of Threads. It's sole purpose is to gather data and analytics to feed into their ad machine. Elon is trying to turn Twitter into a viable product on it's own and this is negatively impacting what people expect the platform to be... 1/3
People expect to have their cake and eat it to with "free" social media platforms.
"Free" of course because the app is collecting all possibly relevant data points on the end user.
With Elon taking steps to stop the bottom line bleed at Twitter it is creating the perception of throwing the platform into a downward spiral.
His political leanings have also made him, and his shiny new app, a target. He also does no favors for himself with what he personally posts. 2/3
I think all these factors added together create a pretty foreboding situation for Twitter.
My only hope is that with #Threads headed toward ActivityPub that it does not somehow begin to taint this area of the internet as well.
Unfortunately I think that's about as likely as Zuck agreeing to stop spying on your conversations 😂 3/3
