I just upgraded tty1 to #kmscon using the kmscon-service in #guix and this is so nice that if I didn't have to do vfx work for money I'd probably be ditching a display server altogether
I totally identify with #permacomputing in the sense that I'm ever driven to depend on less and less, and use increasingly diminishing amounts of electricity for computing & general #internetworking. But I think the real novelty of our work lies in software's capacity to promote free association among workers, and not only tech workers at that. I feel like an `associationist` reimagination of #foss that privileges above all else the promotion of associativity among labour, privileging the last first and the first last and upholding the 4 four fundamental freedoms but exceeding them in the formation of every silicon valley reactionary's worst nightmare — a woke workers movement of the geeks they think they own and control no matter how fascistic they turn — is what is required to meet the present moment where we are.
@rml I haven't really looked into it yet, what does it do?
@daviwil its the "kernel mode service" virtual terminal, basically what alacritty or kitty etc provide, but in your tty

@rml I have just discovered Kmscon and that's exactly my impression!

I guess I still have things to figure out like what went wrong with my screen resolution upon switching GPUs and how to configure my mouse support.

But, all in all, I'm already loving the experience. 🤯
