The Reddit AMA as we know it is dead. "The decade-old team of moderators running Reddit AMAs (short for “Ask Me Anything”) are hanging up their boots and will no longer organize the popular Q&As. [They] think Reddit’s poor site management is beyond repair." https://qz.com/reddit-amas-r-iama-protest-api-changes-steve-huffman-1850600843
The Reddit AMA as we know it is dead

The r/IAmA moderators will no longer organize the famous celebrity Q&As

@JenLucPiquant u/spez sticking his foot in it, up to his knees, again. Wonder where the valuation will finally drop to. smh
@JenLucPiquant imagine crapping on the free labor that allows your business to exist
@JenLucPiquant I mean, what did they expect from a platform with 10 year old moderators?
@JenLucPiquant what was ever the benefit of them doing so? That sub is worth mad money, did they really just do it for free? Baffling behavior if so.
@JenLucPiquant
Meh, it's fine, the original purpose of the sub was dead long ago anyway: to ask questions to people in unusual interesting positions, "I weld stuff underwater", "I run a mortuary" or other *MUCH* more interesting people than celebrities. It was not an advertising instrument until it was turned into one.
@JenLucPiquant
Also remembered there's still a reminder of it's original purpose: the name. It's called "IAmA" because it was "I am a X", "I am a Y", "I am a Z". People who were not famous at all but had interesting experiences. It's cool we could ask random stuff to celebrities but that was awesome and was never truly replaced.

@JenLucPiquant

Reddit as we know it is dead.

What is still there is a husk of its former self.

@JenLucPiquant Let’s focus on the film, people. #rampart
@JenLucPiquant It'a been quite the year for social media platforms committing suicide-by-CEO.
