Well now Twitter have utterly fucked Tweetdeck meaning accessing a lot of my company accounts is now impossible, it's time to finally re-create them here and switch to this as the primary source of truth for all of them.

It's super disappointing to see Twitter ultimately fuck over what used to be a third party app that has been one of the best ways to interact with a rapidly declining site for years.

@wild1145 well, I remember when #Twitter solely acquired #TweetDeck just to kill it's superior #mobile #app and then when they neutered their #API so much that it was basically impossible to make good clients like #Twidere / #TwidereX work...

That was way before #SpaceKaren went full #AssholeMode on everyone!

@wild1145 Still trying to work out whether it's incompetence ("we sacked all the clever people"), or malice ("yeah I was forced to buy this after I said stupid stuff, si now I'm gonna crap all over it and leave"), or deliberate sabotage ("fuck it, I never liked twatter anyway"), or something else entirely.
@bytebro @wild1145 I think he paid too much due to his arrogance/stupidity and is now doing his best to make an impossible situation (of his own accord) work. No one wins from Twitter dying (a part from some authoritarian govs I guess).
@connelhooley @wild1145 Yeah but a) not paying the rent, and b) getting rid of exactly the people who could have told him that dicking with the rate-limiting was a very bad idea, are not really leading me to think of this as an inadvertant screw-up.

@bytebro @wild1145 he's desperate to save cash and that is driving everything he's doing, he's just doing it in lots of bad ways that lead to further bad ways.

E.g. cutting Google's cloud bill to save cash led to him limiting people's access as he no longer has the capacity.

@connelhooley @wild1145 He friggin DOSd his own business. That is up there in the stupidity stakes.
@bytebro @wild1145 I never said he wasn't stupid, just don't think it's malice or anything more complicated than a fool who did a really bad business transaction by buying it in the first place which left him with an impossible mountain to climb.
@connelhooley @wild1145 It only became impossible because he sacked the clever people, and stopped paying rent on buildings and cloud. The man's a cretin.
@bytebro @wild1145 yeah but my point is he did those stupid things to save money. That's all there is to it.
@connelhooley @wild1145 Penny-wise, pound-foolish (as my grandma would have put it)

@bytebro @wild1145 exactly that

He knew it wasn't going to work and that's why he tried to pull out the deal before it was finalised but couldn't.

@wild1145 Wow, that's really atrocious. I had been in the habit of logging back into Twitter once a week or so, to see if I had any mentions or direct messages. But I guess I won't even be doing that now they borked my way of doing it.
@mike Yeah I'd been keeping an eye especially as I hadn't gotten around to shifting my company / brand accounts. It's very irritating but guess I've been pushed now rather than jumped like I'd hoped.
@wild1145 It honestly seems like every single day brings a new lossage to Twitter.
@wild1145 I used Tweetdeck in the β€œearly years” - 2010-ish - and it was the best client for desktop by miles. You could watch some hashtags in several columns and separately tweet - great for live tweeting sporting events. Elmo hasn’t a clue what he’s doing.
@wild1145 well, at least they are quite consistent in fucking things up, no surprises here, really.
