Will threads.net or the upcoming app from Meta/Instagram (ios https://apps.apple.com/us/app/threads-an-instagram-app/id6446901002 Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instagram.barcelona&gl=it) replace #Twitter and #Mastodon? It's possible that they could provide a better alternative, but at what expense? The privacy policies of Meta are concerning. Look how much data they are collecting. 🤯

@nixCraft Well it’s clearly a bad deal for us fedi lovers, it’s targeted at users of traditional social media to bring them onto this new buzz word platform. This isn’t any different than any other Instagram or facebook app.

@nixCraft There were jokes in country where I am from that corporations collect even things "color of your pants" and "firmness of your poop". Now with #Meta collecting "health and fitness" data this sad joke become true!
BTW, not sure how exactly they do this #privacy intrusion especially for users who do not have wearables collecting hearth rare etc., but sounds scary anyway.

@nixCraft 虽然我一直很反对断开与联邦宇宙或者block掉某个实例的断联行为（因为出于用户冲突的断联对建设更好的宇宙没有帮助），但是我依然还是建议各个Mastodon（含Misskey）实例主动断开或者预防性断开与Threads的连接，因为这可能会造成专有社交平台对联邦宇宙的吸血，并且在某一天用户积累差不多以后断开ActivityPub连接，实现“关门打狗”的目的

（类似的还有百度网盘和PaddlePaddle……）
