I list interesting accounts on a range of topics, with "picks of the day" posts and a site full of categories at:
To follow an account from the website, just copy and paste its Fediverse address into the search box on Mastodon etc. This will make its profile appear, where you can click "Follow".
Alternatively, check out Trunk (https://communitywiki.org/trunk) and Fediverse.info (https://fediverse.info/explore/people)
On my own site there's https://fedi.directory/tag/sport/ for spectator sport and https://fedi.directory/tag/sport-and-fitness/ for grassroots sport and fitness.
On Fediverse.info there are many sport related tags, if you search for sport on the search box you'll see them all suggested. For example https://fediverse.info/explore/people?t=sports
Bear in mind Fediverse.info is more about personal accounts that post on lots of topics, and my site is about accounts that tend to focus on a small number of topics.
