@theappletree An octopus is certainly special when compared to most invertebrates... but many animals that are already farmed and consumed on large scales are also intelligent, careful creatures that need enrichment and care to thrive that is not found in an industrial-scale farm.
For instance, pigs are intelligent, affectionate, and can be trained not entirely unlike a dog... but we (i.e. humanity at large) eat them readily. It's tough for me to imagine an argument for not eating octopus that wouldn't logically extend to not eating the majority of meat. Not saying that is a bad thing - that'd be great, but it's going to be hard to sell most people on it.
