#SilentSunday Well, it was meant to be. But earlier on, my usual hour in the #quaker meeting was anything but. It was a trial run in a new venue on an urban main street, on a hot summer Sunday. It sounded like every biker in N Wales was riding & roaring through the town. So much for Thich Nhat Hanh’s advice, to let the sounds I hear draw me into stillness. 😖
Now I’m back to our quiet country lane, & the peaceful musk mallow fill the hedgerows.

@scrutans — My sympathies! In my modest personal experience, mixing the principles of Buddhist meditation with those of Quaker worship just doesn’t always work. Early Friends were able to worship while mobs disrupted their gatherings (we do have records of this), but it wasn’t stillness they were seeking, and what they *were* seeking — a lively connection with Christ in the conscience — did not need stillness to be found. I’m glad you are finding the stillness in your country lane.
