I don't publish a lot but for tech stuff I write (mostly blogs but I have a book on socialist housing in the works) I specify that 7 years after publication, it becomes CC0.

Personally I think copyright should be short (originally was 17 years I think, in America anyway) - regardless of what is published. Parents even shorter.

Patents and copyrights are inherently mixed tradeoffs - but both were created with the intention to help creators of original works, not to subsidize big corporations.

@alec @CyberpunkLibrarian my kingdom for rules where if you’re not actively trying to make a living off the content (the thing copyright was trying to make sure people could do) then you don’t benefit from its protections.
