So I need your help interwebs in making an important decision.

I have never watched the Mission Impossible movies. I am considering a marathon watch. What say you? Is it recommended?

Okay. So I'm getting some advice about the #MissionImpossible franchise. First I have to go find the described versions.

How many of you would enjoy the mockery that might result from me live tooting the watches?

@ppatel You can skip 2, possibly even 1. Part 3 is good and acts as a soft reboot of the series. General rule of thumb with the series is that the named sequels are better than the numbered ones.
@sheawoodrow Thank you for that advice. They needed a reboot in a third movie? That just seems weird. I mean I've heard about the difficulty of watching the first one. But, that sort of sounds bad. Maybe I should just watch them for the giggles, at least the first one.
@ppatel The first one is actually good. They needed the reboot because of part 2. It was one of those early 2000s trying way to hard to be cool movies. You can tell how hard they were trying by the way they replaced the classic theme song with a Limp Bizkit cover version.
@sheawoodrow Ah. So, watch 1, most probably skip 2, and watch the rest. That's what it sounds like.
@ppatel Pretty much, yeah. Here's a fun fact about 2 though, Dougray Scott was supposed to play Wolverine in X-Men, but M:I2 went over schedule, so he had to drop out, which is why Hugh Jackman was brought in as a last minute replacement.
@sheawoodrow Pretty good replacement, I'd say.
@ppatel Better choice, if we're honest. Dougray Scott is *very* Scottish. He would've brought a mich different energy to the most famous Canadian superhero...

@ppatel @sheawoodrow I liked Mission Impossible 2! The smoulder! I mean yes it was absurd, but I really have no objection to subordinating plot to chemistry.

But then I'm not sure I actually watched more than one of the others, so maybe I haven't got much to compare it to.

@ppatel

I also have never seen them.

I reccomend setting a time, letting others know when you'll start, and live-reacting to it on fedi.

#wearenameless style.

@ppatel Stopped watching after the second one. That doesn't mean the rest aren't good, I just didn't care anymore.
@objectinspace I'm told that the whole thing was reset in the third movie.
@ppatel Does Tom Cruz murder exactly 50% of the universe? If so I'd be into that.
@ppatel yes! you should watch all the Mission Impossible movies. there’s only like 6 of them. so it’s doable. you could watch 1 movie every other day before Dead Reckoning comes out.
@awoodsnet I've already watched the first two. I don't particularly care to finish before Dead Recconning comes out. I'm not likely to go the theater but I'll watch as soon as it's available to rent.
