Okay, Okay, I'm listening to ep.363 of DHaJ and re. skiing:
- I did alpine (downhill) skiing in high school
- There is a way to go up hill with skis on; you make a V shape and walk up; it's not fun
- Hank is right in that tow ropes are the worst; I had to wear insulated work gloves whenever we had races at the mountain with one since they ripped through my regular ones
- Lifts-wise, t-bars are definitely the scariest, followed by chair lifts, and distantly by tow ropes
- Whoever taught John how to ski did an AWFUL job with it: the pizza method gives you immense control and should be how every new person is taught, no kid should be careening into a tree
- I definitely recommend taking lessons on skiing rather than trying to figure it out on your own
