Today’s the summer solstice, and the start of Cancer season.

Every astrological sign is associated with one tarot card from the Major Arcana, and three tarot cards from the Minor Arcana.

The first third of Cancer is governed by the Two of Cups, a card of deep friendship and love. One of my favorite renditions is this one from Isabella Rotman’s This Might Hurt deck.

I’m starting to journal for reasons, and I want to integrate tarot so it becomes fun to maintain, even when I’m busy. I soft launched last week, but I’m officially beginning today.

This morning I pulled three cards: a lesson for me to learn about the year ahead (summer solstice to next summer solstice), a lesson for Cancer season, and a lesson for today.

The card in the “lesson for today” position was this Two of Cups.

I’m finding a lot of friendship and connection here, so I thought receiving the Two of Cups on this day seems right somehow.

@PlinyTheOlder that's an interesting deck. I've done 2 Tarot courses some time back, using the traditional Rider Waite. I kinda forgot about it. However I've done 2 readings this year, that were really insightful.
@JayMX It’s been in the past few years that I’ve been getting a lot more out of tarot than ever before. Decks like This Might Hurt, and also like the Modern Witch tarot (pictured here) have been more accessible to me as I was learning — they both have imagery inspired by the Rider Waite Smith, but feel more contemporary and more inviting.

@PlinyTheOlder it's important to find a deck that you resonate with.

Practice does help a lot. I wish I had more time. I do however put time in astrology by reading and some YouTube channels I follow.

I really want to do a course eventually since it really helps me in my personal development.

@JayMX I’ve taken a few online classes; all of them have had queer instructors, and that’s made a huge impact for me. I find that I benefit from having the structure of a course and something to focus my studies on.
@PlinyTheOlder That background is also interesting. Is that a table or a cloth?
@JayMX Thanks! I like to pick out fat quarters of fabric in a variety of fun prints from Cliff’s Variety, which is a hardware and home furnishings store in my neighborhood of the Castro.
