dnnsconroy@f800gecko Anticipation. The players and umpires aren't reacting in the moment. They are ready for a potential infield fly call on every pitch thrown under the following conditions: A) runners on 1st and 2nd, or bases loaded; B) 0 outs or 1 out. If A and B, then any routine infield pop-up triggers the infield fly rule. The batter is out automatically. The runners can stay put - i.e. the force play is canceled. Infielder cannot intentionally drop the pop-up to turn routine out into double play.
