I’m not much of a calligrapher, but I’m trying my hand at some broad nib inspired text typeface. It’s astounding in how many places you have to deviate from the pen logic to make it “look right”.
The most glaring example may be the Z. On the left is the pure nib trace (nib held at 30° angle), on the right is what we are accustomed to see.
