Coworker who balked at leaving his current social media asked me about #Mastodon since last I had spoken of it. He claimed to have read about it in the press and has some questions. I mentioned the greater #Fediverse concept and I saw his mind expand in real time. He didn't know what it was all about, and I blame the press for reducing it to a smaller #TwitterAlternative by writing articles without much substance.

Coworker: "Wait
#Pixelverse is ad-free, influencer-free #Insta? #Lemmy/#Kbin is like #Reddit but not? #Wordpress? Wait, this #Fediverse thing isn't just a knock-off #Twitter thing?"

Me: "The apps all share the same protocol so they can talk to each other more or less, and more are spun up and federate all the time. It's awesome."

Coworker: "Where was this 10 years ago? This is what I've been waiting for when blogging died."

Me: "I told you months ago to look into it. I told you. Really, it's going to be the next thing. It is worth checking out for the potential. I haven't gone back to Twitter in 8 months, and now I won't out of principal. If Reddir communities move to the Fediverse it will get better. "
