Day 2 (pt1) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip down to Brighton
Misty start, then we spotted a rabbit 3 fields away and got excited
Then we had breakfast and a snooze in the warming sunshine
Then we headed a massive 120 miles south, via Little Itchington and it’s beautiful church for lunch, to #Oxfordshire
Day 2 (pt2) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip down to Brighton
Now parked at a #BritStop on a pick your own fruit farm in #Oxfordshire
And we are free (literally) to walk the dogs all round the farm.
I think we will be as sad to leave here as we were to leave last night’s stopover.
Day 3 of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip down to Brighton
Started with a walk past the sweet smelling fruit growing poly-tunnels.
Then we made our way 120 miles south-ish to a PROPER campsite. It’s a big ticket item for us. But we made use of the showers and emptied the van tanks too 💩👍
When we went for the shower we accidentally ended up on a walk in the National Trust woods next door …
Got my first live #FingerPostFriday snap too 👌
Day 4 of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip down to Brighton
Left our idyllic woodland campsite are re-retraced our drive of last summer winding our way across the South Downs to The Sportsman’s Pub just outside Burgess Hill.
Had a fantastic scampi and chips and the dogs enjoyed the adjacent field. This will be our base for two very peaceful nights.
In the evening we headed into #Brighton for the #gig.
I’ll probably post more about that later 😉
Day 5 of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip down to Brighton
We had a nice chill morning & tested the new (charity shop) shade for the awning, but as we hadn’t booked a table we couldn’t have a meal the the Sportsman’s (because it was Fathers Day) 😥 before we headed into #Brighton for the second night’s #gig
Day 6 (P1) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip back home from Brighton
After another quiet night and morning at the Sportsman’s it was time to head north again. The M25 around London and under the Dartford Tunnel was ok BUT then when we pulled off to have lunch we couldn’t find a park in Brentwood without a height barrier or space for us.
Then we changed plans and headed up the M11 and stopped there for an hour as an accident was cleared away.
Then …
@BitchinRob are there no specialized apps for campers that would be good enough to provide that type of detailed parking information?
It would be a tough task. The app would probably have to be either heavily ad. supported or some type of recurring subscription. That level of information is expensive to gather. iImages from Google Maps (or Apple’s equivalent “Look Around”) wouldn’t be allowed by them if they found out, and might be old information anyway. 🤔
@ZeKik yep I’m on a WildCamping forum that has POI for (grey legal area) overnight spots that is brilliant for places to stop and have a cupper or dog walk but they need a bit of forward planning.
We’d got stuck in traffic so weren’t where we planned to be at lunchtime so just pulled off the motorway and searched for “Country Park”. It’s never failed before. But lockdown has meant a load of abuse by new VanLifers and now loads of barriers have now gone up across car parks.
Day 6 (P2) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip back home from Brighton
… somehow I managed to pick the wrong dot on the satnav and we ended up nowhere near where we thought we were going 😬
A few heated words later and another half hour drive and we ended up in in lovely little fenland campsite watching the sun set (worst day of the trip but we got a load of miles done so not all bad)
Day 7 (P1) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip back home from Brighton
After a good night’s sleep we picked “the oldest pub in Lincolnshire” to head to for our last night before we head home.
We stopped off at Spalding for a walk along the riverbank and saw the power station, sewage works and local dump. There were many ducks and rabbits to amuse the dogs.
Then we meandered up the Lincolnshire Wolds to The Kings Head at Tealby.
Day 7 (P2) of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip back home from Brighton
And the http://www.thekingsheadtealby.co.uk/ needs a toot all to itself.
We arrived unannounced but were ushered into the private back garden to park up and told to make ourselves at home. We did 😁
So we had a couple of drinks, took the dogs for a walk across the fields outside the village then came back for a lovely fish pie and chips and another beer too.
A very good night’s sleep followed.
Day 8 of our #Roadtrek #Motorhome #RV #RoadTrip back home from Brighton
After another great night’s sleep it was time to make our way home ☹️
We picked or way home trying to avoid main road, stopping along the way for a couple of walks around a village or two. And had lunch by the canal.
Now we are back home Much better rested than we usually are after a trip away. I think because visiting the various #BritStop pubs and businesses worked so well for us.
