Just in case one has to deal with an #OldDevice with a rubber-like surface that gets sticky over the years - isopropyl alcohol and cotton pads did the trick for me. Works at least on a ten year old Logitech mouse and a #Nokia6233 from 2006 (which has survived falling down a six-story staircase in 2008).
PS. When cleaning mobile phones, it might be a good idea to protect the camera cover.
@RickJ what exactly is that sticky stuff? I always assumed it was the surface itself degrading.
@Zarr It seems to be plasticizer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasticizer?wprov=sfti1 ) which is a part of the coating. It first deposits to the surface, leaving the other components on the device. Had the same effect a couple of years ago with a power plug for a Motorola #StarTAC, where the isolation fell into pieces when just looking at it (well, almost), which is also described in the article.
