The thought of evacuating Karachi (now over 17m population)! It's a mind-blowing concept - where would they go to? Fresh water, shelter, food?

@greeneralia the State Gov is mindful of that. They are compulsarily evacuating only coastal villages directly facing the storm surge along the Sindh coast.

#Karachi's coastline is mostly captured by elite residential societies, or ports/power plants/naval bases, none of whom will evacuate.

A 'voluntary evacuation' has been announced for them, rest of the city been advised to hunker down.

Evacuations under way as Biparjoy draws nearer to Sindh’s coastal belt

According to the latest advisory, the cyclone has weakened to a "very severe cyclonic storm” and is now 470km south of Karachi; 4 dead as India steps up evacuations.

Yes, I see that my happy home of many years, Clifton (Acton House and then Runnymede), with its mica-grey sands and camel rides is named as one of the areas most at risk.
I am now 74 & had assumed I would be safely dead before the worst of the #ClimateCrisis took effect, but it seems that might be optimistic.
I had also assumed that the situation would gradually worsen overall, but wind, sea and temperature are increasingly anarchic...

Thank-you for the further link...it does seem that the trajectory of the cyclone has 'bent' south so that it looks set to make landfall south of Karachi proper and north of Bombay.
