Rant of a #redditmod

With the blackout starting today, one of the #gaming subreddits I’m actively modding has gone private. Why do I hope that this will make an impact?

I came to love the #reddit community. The way the platform is organised is a lot of fun. But honestly? Moderating a subreddit with 250k members without trusty third party tools is hell. I can’t even say enough how much the automod has done for us. Modding without it will be a nightmare of spam and hostility.

@OtomeKame well, I think they're going to go ahead with their plans either way. And seems like I'm not the only one since I've noticed a massive traffic increase all around Lemmy.
@crusty13 they probably are, I agree. They’ve made it pretty clear in their recent Q&A.
I’m more curious about the community’s reaction to be honest. I didn’t expect so many subreddits participating in the protest. I do have a faint hope reddit will overthink their strategy, even though the realist in me is certain it won’t happen.
