When Black and brown people that were unapologetically cruel and vicious most of their lives die, no one expects their victims to say nice things about them when they're gone.

But when white people that were unapologetically cruel and vicious to Black folk most of their lives die, there's a US societal expectation that Black folk all suddenly find something nice to say about their oppressor.🤡

No.

Others say, "OK you don't have to say something nice, but don't speak ill of the dead!"

Also no.

I don't recall the "Don't speak Ill of the dead" discourse when Osama bin Laden was killed. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Know this: if you are cruel and vicious to Black people and increase racism and suffering during your life, people of all colors will celebrate when you die. The good things you did will be spoken about in equal measure with the pain you caused. Schools will not be named after you. Buildings with your name on them will be renamed. You will either be forgotten completely, or remembered as a tyrant.

@mekkaokereke On evil people dying:

1) Moms Mabley: "I was always taught never to say anything about the dead unless it’s good. He’s dead. Good!**”**

2) Hitler visits a fortuneteller and asks her on what day he will die.
She tells him it will be on a Jewish holiday. He asks, which one? Mein Fuhrer, she says, any day that you die will be a Jewish holiday.
